An Interview with Jan Berry, Member of the American Nuclear Society Policy Committee

Should nuclear power be a part of our clean energy strategy? What are the strengths and challenges of nuclear power? This is a major question we consider in this interview, but we also talk about God’s calling on a housewife and secretary to become a chemical engineer and how He led her education and career. Jan Berry’s extensive career experience has included leading teams cleaning up nuclear waste from the Manhattan Project and designing the cooling system for the nuclear fusion reactor under construction in France by an international research group, including scientists at Oak Ridge in Tennessee. Jan Berry is retired now but is active in many ways including serving as a member of the American Nuclear Society Policy Committee, visiting with elected officials on energy and environmental policy issues, and leading the creation care ministry of the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church.
